2017 Bike Exchange

**Please confirm your spot via Eventbrite to receive additional volunteer details.**

TAP will be volunteering with the Silicon Valley Bike Coalition to repair bicycles for low-income children, families and individuals. Volunteer tasks include cleaning bikes, repairing bikes, and/or tearing down bikes. We will learn bicycle repair skills with the help of experienced volunteers in a warehouse and workshop which is fully outfitted with storage, repair stands and tools. This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill while giving back to the community.

The Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) exists to promote increased cycling in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. Their programs seek to change behavior by giving people the tools they need to ride a bike: education, encouragement, and community. The Bicycle Exchange meets on selected Saturdays throughout the year to receive, repair, and distribute its inventory of donated bicycles. They donate bikes and helmets to local charities that serve both children and adults, and provide bikes to homeless individuals to provide transportation from shelters to places of employment and schooling.

We will be repairing bicycles; no prior experience needed but please dress comfortably! If you would like to signup, Please confirm your spot via eventbrite and receive additional volunteer details/carpool arrangments. Please bring in $3 to chip in for pizza for lunch.

Dragon Boat Race 2017

Dragon Boat Race 2017

Dragon Boat Paddlers,

After last year’s bronze medal in the Novice Community Division, Taiwanese American Professionals' team TAPasaurSF will be competing again in the annual Northern California Dragon Boat Festival. We want you in the boat with us paddling across the finish line! Absolutely no prior experience required.

What is Dragon Boating?

For those unfamiliar with the sport, dragon boating simply put, is a boat of 20 paddlers, a drummer and a steers person paddling to cross the finish faster than their competition. It's a team sport in its purest form that encompasses the elements of power, speed, synchronization and endurance.

The California Dragon Boat Association (http://www.sfdragonboat.com/) presents the 22nd Annual Northern California International Dragon Boat Festival at Lake Merritt, Oakland! Cheer on the fleet of colorful 40-foot dragon boats as they race to the beat of Chinese drums on Saturday & Sunday, September 23 & 24, 2017. Checkout a short YouTube video of the Northern California International Dragon Boat Festival from 2016:https://youtu.be/Hm08qKen3Rs

Join the TAPasaurSF Team!

The Dragon boat race will surely challenge your whole body strength. But no worries, no experience is necessary as we will be in the novice community division. For those with no experience, we will have three practices to train you for Race Day. You will need to attend at least two practices. We will need a minimum of 10 female and 10 male paddlers. Please feel free to invite your friends to join. We will setup carpool for each practice and Race Day. Get ready for some fun!

***Please commit to at least 2 out of the 3 practices, and the day of the race (9/23). Please select which practices you will be attending when you sign up below. We will follow up with FB events for each practice and race.***
