Fueled by a lifelong passion in the ancient art form of lion dance and martial arts, three brothers—Kuen, Kwan, and Allen Leung— established a struggling school in Oakland, California in 1971. The Leung brothers’ timeless devotion has proven to lead the troupe into one of the biggest and finest lion dancing and martial arts schools in North America, with more than 350 active students and alumni.
Founded in 2000, Ten Drum Art Percussion Group shares Taiwanese culture and preserves drumming heritage. “Ten” symbolizes energy and unity through crossed drumsticks. Their innovative performances blend local themes and diverse percussion elements, captivating audiences worldwide.
Taiwan School Children’s Taigi Choir: The choir was founded in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2022 to cultivate the foundation of children's Taiwanese choral singing. Choir students rehearse every week and allow kids to sing enjoyable and charming Taiwanese songs in a joyful and happy atmosphere.
Jolly Dancers group celebrates Taiwanese culture through Chinese school activities and performances. Our goal is to preserve our heritage, foster inclusivity, and share the beauty of our traditions with the Bay Area community.
Tzu-Chi Yang, a 13-year-old Taiwanese American from San Jose, has been mastering the Chinese yo-yo for two and a half years. She has showcased her skills in numerous performances and competitions. This past summer, she claimed the Under-14 championship title at the 2024 USA National Diabolo Competition, organized by the USA Diabolo Association, in New Jersey.
Hailing from Taipei, Taiwan, Yuka grew up with the birth of the electronic music scene in Asia. She began DJing while living in London in 2018 training at the London Sound Academy. In 2019, she founded the artist exchange program Nu Tekno (女樂) and has been hosting events regularly since 2020.
Bay Area Independent Chinese Dancers uses traditional arts to tell original stories rooted in local and global experiences. We focus on innovative choreographies and solo work that fit into working adults’ lives, showcasing the skill and unique voices of our dancers.
Justin Pan began learning Chinese Yo-yo when he was 11 and now teaches it at TACL LYF Summer Camp. Johnny Huang performed with the Chinese Yo-yo team of the Taiwanese American Students Club at the University of Illinois. After solo performances in previous years, they are teaming up this year for an exciting collaboration.
The Formosa Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors (FASCA) is a program sponsored by the Overseas Community Affairs Council of the Republic of China (Taiwan). FASCA was established for the overseas youth to participate in the "Empowerment Program". By uniting the overseas youth, FASCA seeks to serve as a platform through which students can hone their leadership skills and cultural understanding to apply within the overseas communities.
Established in 2023, the EBTA Children’s Choir is sponsored by the East Bay Taiwanese Association and the Taiwanese American Cultural Center of East Bay. Our mission is to promote Taiwanese culture and languages through music and storytelling, helping children build a strong connection to their heritage.
Niko Rain is a Taiwanese American artist based in California. Over the past few years, Niko Rain's discography has received widespread support in the Bay Area, Taiwan, Japan, and on official Spotify AAPI editorial playlists. His recent release 'Stay A While' has amassed over 12 million streams worldwide, and he continues to produce, songwrite, and perform original songs with the goal of providing a sense of soft comfort for his listeners.
